William B. Haynes, Jr., M.D.

Welcome to Premier Orthopaedic Surgery!

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you more about myself.  I am originally from North Carolina, but moved to Macon, Georgia during my childhood.  I graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in pharmacy, and went on to earn my medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia.  I completed a Surgical Internship and an Orthopaedic Residency at the University of Kentucky men’s and women’s basketball teams.  I pursued subspecialty training in sports medicine and arthroscopy as part of a fellowship at The Hughston Clinic in Columbus, Georgia.  I was trained by the late Jack Hughston, M.D. who was internationally known in the orthopaedic world as the father of sports medicine.

My practice is focused on sports medicine injuries, ACL surgery, arthroscopy, shoulder disorders including rotator cuff repair and labral repairs, elbow, knee and ankle reconstruction.  I make every effort to treat my patients as I would my family and friends.  Many orthopaedic injuries can be treated non-surgically while others may require surgery to achieve the best result.  When surgery is required, I use the latest arthroscopic or minimally invasive procedures.  I use small plastic surgery type incisions whenever feasible.  I strive to provide you with as much information as possible to ensure you make an informed decision on your treatment options.

I am very active in the local sports community and serve as the head team physician for several local high schools.  These include North Forsyth High School, South Forsyth High School, Pinecrest Academy, Blessed Trinity High School, and Dawson County High School.  I work closely with the local high school and middle school coaches to keep our local athletes healthy.  I also coach football and basketball at a local middle school as well as recreationally.

I travel to Chicago several times a year to teach other orthopaedic surgeons from all over the country as well as international surgeons the most recent and innovative techniques in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction of the knee and arthroscopic rotator cuff and labral repairs of the shoulder.  I am an associate clinical professor in the department of Orthopaedics at Emory University and serve as a clinical instructor to the family practice residents at Emory.

I am involved in medical missions.  This tremendous experience has had a profound effect on me as a practicing physician.  Seeing these very sick and underprivileged patients who have very little and are just grateful to be alive has greatly increased my faith and hope.  Charity is a tremendous virtue.  Perhaps the biggest blessing that I have received is that I truly feel these patients gave me much more than I could ever give them.

I love spending time with my wife Laura and our five children.  This is what I like to do most.  We enjoy diverse activities like snow skiing, basketball, soccer, golf, and boating.

I look forward to meeting with you.

Sincerely,

William B. Haynes, Jr., M.D.

From Dr. Haynes

I appreciate the extra time you take to fill out the new patient paperwork on your initial visit.  It helps the office and me better manage your care. I would like to apologize in advance for the time you have to wait to see me.  I try to spend as much time as possible with my patients to get to know them better so I can provide them the best care possible.  I pride myself in spending more time with my patients than most orthopaedic surgeons.  Occasionally, emergency situations arise or a particular patient requires additional special attention.  I make every effort to be punctual, but I am committed to giving each patient as much time as is required to care for their needs.  The staff at Premier Orthopaedic Surgery and I will make every effort to see you as soon as possible as we understand your time is very valuable.  Thank you for understanding.
